We will be recognizing 5 students/school/organizations from the New England area who have made a difference in their schools with their work in addressing the issue of bullying. If your school or organization has implemented programs, curriculum, events or projects to promote respect for everyone and combat bullying, we encourage you to apply for or nominate that student/school/organization for the Stand Up 2011 Awards.
Awards will be presented on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the STAND UP 2011 event at Matthews Arena in Boston, MA. The five special recognition awards will be presented to the winning students/schools/organizations by prominent celebrities from the worlds of sports, entertainment and community. The awards winners will be selected by a panel of prominent community leaders. The deadline for submission is November 18, 2011.
Who Is Eligible?
All middle and high school students from public, private, charter, collaborative or parochial schools in Massachusetts. Student organizations are also eligible to submit nominations.
What is the criteria?
We are interested in all of the activities, programs, events, projects and curriculum that you have developed and implemented in your school or organization since September 2010 through November 2011, as well as everything you have planned through June of 2012. The activities that will be considered for this award should incorporate one or more of the following:
to provide an understanding of bullying and the harm it inflicts upon individuals and society;
to recognize bullying and take personal responsibilities for combating bullying;
to provide techniques for combating bullying in your school and community; and
to identify factors in the school environment which promote intergroup understanding, anti-bullying and student successes.
How do I nominate a student, school or organization for the award?
Please complete the information below or apply online at www.StandUp2011.org. The application form is double-sided. Please indicate a contact person at the school or organization who would be able to give additional information on their programming efforts and accomplishments.
